I wasn't going to post anything today. Just like any holiday, all the posts of the same theme begin to become redundant and even dilute meaning. I was trying not to roll my eyes as I scrolled through picture after picture in my facebook feed delivering the same message. Then, I came across something refreshing and had to share.
I often feel our National Anthem has turned into an American Idol contest - who can belt it out the loudest, who can hold that latter note the highest or longest, who can melodically add as many notes per word as possible?
Because of that, I was thrilled to see one of my favorite artists, Ingrid Michaelson, lend her voice to a July 4 campaign. Her simplistic version of the song is lovely, and for the first time in a long time, I actually felt touched hearing it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
